Canadian Court rejects India’s claims that it is immune from the jurisdiction of Quebec’s courts

Late last year, the Quebec Superior Court rejected the Republic of India’s claims that it is immune from the jurisdiction of Quebec’s courts – eliminating yet another obstacle to Devas Multimedia Private Limited’s investors, and their successors in title, having their two Permanent Court of Arbitration administered awards recognised and enforced in Quebec.
