Iraqi company seeks order from US Court for discovery in aid of foreign proceedings pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1782

Iraqi Mammoet Salvage, B.V. (“Mammoet”) has filed an ex parte application before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, pursuant to Section 1782 of the 28 U.S.C.In it, it is seeking an order authorising the issue of subpoenas to seven banks within that district to produce documents for use in currently pending foreign court proceedings in the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates (“UAE”).
