Supreme Court thwarts Ireland’s plans to ratify EU–Canada Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement

11 November 2022, DUBLIN. A small majority of the Irish Supreme Court has ruled that the Republic’s Constitution precludes the EU–Canada Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA) from being ratified unless certain changes are first effected to its domestic arbitration laws.
